So we made the most-amazing-roadtrip-ever this April, exploring the southwest of America, and it started out in San Francisco!Such a cool city! Our hotel was in the center, next to the awesome Chinatown, a very colorful neighbourhood with lanterns and supercool paintings on the walls.
Lots of good coffeeplaces everywhere!
San Francisco is just so colorful
With our jetlag we woke up everyday around 5:30, which is actually very cool because then we could see the sunrise!
So we strolled through the beautiful neighbourhoods in the early morning…
Towards Fisherman’s Wharf!
Yes that is the famous Alcatraz in the back!
Our quiet morning was disturbed by the loud sounds of a bunch of sealions who were chilling on Pier 39 XD
Man they are noisy haha! We strolled around a bit and made some funny pictures:
Visited a small beach!
But then, we decided to rent a bike because we definitely positively really really wanted to see the Golden Gate Bridge up close (I missed that last time I was in San Fran for the GDC :-0)
yay biking! yay there is it!!
Nice and foggy :p
But when we got closer and closer, it got more sunny!
That’s one cool bridge I gotta tell ya
I mean just look at it
That bridge is just awesome!
We took a nice ferry back to Fisherman’s Wharf, going right past Alcatraz
It started to get very very windy, which is apparantly typical San Francisco weather!
So it wasn’t even afternoon yet by this time ( I told you we got up at 5:30 :p what a long day!) so we decided to go to a museum! And we chose the Young Museum, because of its impressive collection of art from different cultures and time periods.
Some nice views over San Francisco from the museum too!
It is a fantastic museum! So much to see and everything is sort of mixed, so you can see the similarities between different styles, artists, time periods and cultures. I loved it!
The Young Museum is located in Golden Gate Park which is huuuge and beautiful. We were surprised to see a Japanese teagarden with cherryblossoms!!
So we didn’t miss sakura this year :D The Golden gate park is really nice, we strolled around for a while:
This place looks like some Elven kings were buried there :p
And thus ended our day in San Francisco. Tomorrow we would pick up our car and start our amazing roadtrip for real :D!!
